The first half of the month started out great with me running well and playing well (which tend to go hand in hand), and the second month was filled with a ton of variance. I probably ran about $1000 under expectation in the second half of the month and tilted some off, but that's poker. I already have a bunch of things I plan on doing differently in November, so I'm excited about that.
I'm going to make another Full Tilt screen name so I can get rake back. This would've given me around $300 extra on the month and I didn't even play that much. I also played on Pokerstars today during the day, and I was shocked with how many games there were and how bad the play was. I ran ok but I was able to get three streets of value with TPTK and I had people calling with draws on the turn with nowhere near the right odds. The games at Full Tilt during the day plain suck, as it's filled with competent regulars and very little dead money. When I was scrolling down the list of games in PS, there were a ton of games with average pot about 20-25 BBs and 35-40% of the people seeing the flop. I also think a leak of mine was 3 betting light too often at this level. I think I would rather just call with small pairs and suited connectors and check raise the right flops instead of building such a big pot pre-flop, which in turn causes me to make a larger continuation bet.
So my October Results were:
Cash: +$1947
Tourn: +$400
Total: +$2347
I obviously didn't finish at my high point but I am still somewhat pleased with this result. I've had three straight positive months, all of which increased in total, so hopefully November stays on this trend...
